Your home or property was not built to be pressure washed!
The first thing that comes to mind for the vast majority of people when they are considering having their homes cleaned is to have them pressure washed.

From Wikipedia, the definition of pressure washing or power washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces.
This high-pressure water typically sprayed mere inches from the surface in order to clean it. The result of washing a vinyl sided home with high pressure held up close to the siding can often leave you home looking like someone sprayed graffiti on your siding.

In addition, in order to blast away the dirt, grime and mold from a surface, ladders will be needed to reach everything over 10' above of the ground. This is an extremely dangerous practice and one that should be avoided. Hundreds of injuries and even deaths occur every year in the United States by attempting to pressure wash from a ladder.

Many pressure washing companies will spray bleach directly to the home’s siding with a pump-up sprayer in an attempt to clean it, but this is also a poor and ineffective procedure for properly cleaning a home.
First, while bleach may be helpful in getting rid of mold and mildew, it does not have any cleaning properties of its own.

If it were effective at cleaning dirt, and grime, you would not need laundry detergent or dish soap to clean your dishes. You would only use bleach to clean your car.

You are probably already thinking that you would never use bleach as your only cleaner for these items, yet many homeowners and pressure washing companies alike are of the belief that bleach is all you need to clean a house. Even though bleach is a useful tool in pressure washing, it does nothing to emulsify and lift the dirt and grime.

Since bleach will not remove the dirt, lawn mower dust, grime, atmospheric pollutants, or exhaust emissions soiling a home, most people will blast away at the dirt with high pressure in the manner described earlier. Worse, if used improperly, bleach can seize door locks, cause metal to rust, etch glass, oxidize vinyl siding and kill plants.
Further, assaulting your home with high-pressure water can damage siding and paint, mutilate wooden doors, destroy screens, cause water intrusion around windows and doors, break the seals in double pane glass causing fogging, and force water behind siding that can cause mold and mildew to grow inside the wall cavities.

Fortunately, there is a safer technique to clean your home and it even offer superior results over the use of high pressure blasting.
