Why Pressure Washing Is Considered Extremely High Risk By Insurance Companies
Running a successful and professional pressure washing business is expensive. We have made a very sizable investment in our industrial grade equipment to offer the best service that we can to our customers.

Then there is always maintenance cost, and operating expenses so we are always able to provide quality service to our customers.
However, there is one more expense that takes a huge chunk out of our operating budget and that is our pressure washing specific insurance.
I asked my insurance agent why we had to have an insurance policy specific to pressure washing and he told me that there is more damage caused by pressure washing companies to homes and other properties than all other home service companies combined.

That list would include electricians, plumbers, painters, carpenters, roofers, and lawn maintenance companies just to name a few.

One of the most common pressure washing incidences are falls resulting from pressure washing from a ladder. Trying to control a pressure washing wand typically requires both hands making it impossible to keep at least one hand on the ladder at all times.

Then there are falls from the roof when someone tries to get to areas they think cannot be cleaned unless they get close enough to blast the dirt off with high pressure. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the pressure washing related falls result in serious injury or even death.

There is also the chance of damage to property caused by the use of high pressure water sprayed directly at surfaces only inches away. Paint can be peeled off, vinyl siding can be damaged, screens can be shredded, electrical outlets can be shorted out causing fires, window seals can be broken, water can be forced behind siding causing mold and mildew to grown inside the wall cavities.

Even concrete is no match to the forces of water being sprayed at it at 3,500 ~ 4,000 pounds per square inch. So it would be easy to see how a wooden deck could be virtually destroyed by the use of high pressure.

The list of pressure washing mishaps could go on and on so it very important to make sure whoever you hire that they have the appropriate insurance.
